The Children’s Pastor is responsible for managing the Children’s Department at Lone Star Cowboy Church, overseeing the provision of high-quality pastoral care to church members and their families, ensuring the education and training of the Children’s Department ministry teams, and communicating across the Children’s Department and other pastoral staff. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a servant’s heart who is called to equip others, build meaningful connections, and expand the reach of the Gospel through intentional ministry engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, support, and coordination of the staff’s activities, along with the execution of the day-to-day responsibilities, to include maintaining relationships and addressing concerns of staff within and related to the Children’s Ministry.
- Ensure that all requests for pastoral care are responded to in a timely manner.
- Oversee financial reporting and annual budgeting for the Children’s Ministry area and oversee the day-to-day stewardship of budget planning, purchasing, and reconciliations, under the direction of Executive Leadership.
- Provide resources, documentation, and communication for leadership as directed.
- Contribute to social media communication for the Children’s Ministry as needed.
- Coordinate and communicate with other ministry teams regarding the activities of the Children’s Ministry.
- Partner with Facilities and Grounds to ensure updates and improvements with building and yard maintenance in the children’s area of the church.
- Ensure curriculum is ordered and up-to-date, and oversee that classrooms are stocked and ready for children’s classes.
- Assist with necessary administrative responsibilities in the absence of the ministry department's administrative assistant.
Church/Community
- Maintain relationships with families, addressing parental concerns, benevolent needs, and providing pastoral counseling.
- Be available to teach Baptism and Baby Dedication classes.
- Oversee children’s classes, filling in as needed in the coordinator’s absence.
- Oversee and develop children’s outreach opportunities in the local schools and other community endeavors to connect families to resources, assistance, and other available help.
- Participate in planning and leading events such as VBS, camps, and family events.
Other Duties
- Provide leadership and development for the Children’s Ministry teams to include selection, recruiting, supporting, coaching, disciplining, and training of ministry leaders, coordinators, and volunteers.
- Meet regularly with ministry team leaders for individual spiritual development, prayer, and problem-solving, including goals and objectives for each ministry team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies, Education, or a related field.
- 4+ years’ experience in church ministry required.
- Experience working in children's ministry strongly preferred.
- 2+ years effectively managing budgets is required.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop volunteer leaders.
- Proficient with Google Suite and church software (e.g., Breeze, Planning Center, Slack, etc.)
- Have or be able to obtain a first-aid and CPR certification.
